Sax Player for Hire

Sax Player for Weddings, Parties & Events.

I'm Paul Martyn, a professional sax player, singer and DJ based in Nottingham. I play Ibiza-style live saxophone over my own DJ set, so one booking covers the music from the first drink to the last song. Full sound and lighting come with every package, and I travel UK-wide and abroad.

One sax player. Sax, vocals and DJ.

Most events need more than one kind of music: something relaxed while people arrive, something warmer over food, and something that gets everyone dancing. Booking a sax player, a singer and a DJ separately means three suppliers, three setups and gaps while one hands over to the next.

With Paul it is one act. Live saxophone, vocals and a DJ set are blended into one continuous performance, so the music never stops and the energy never dips. Over 25 years and more than 2,500 events he has played everything from pubs and clubs at 17 to support slots in front of 6,000+ people. One couple called him “a one-man jukebox”.

What does an Ibiza-style sax player play?

The signature sound is live saxophone improvised over house, dance and chart tracks: the sunset sound made famous on the Ibiza party scene. Early on that means relaxed, melodic sax while guests arrive and chat. Later, Paul plays over his own DJ set, picking up the big hooks of the songs everyone knows and adding live sax and vocals on top.

Because the sax player is also the DJ, he can read the room and change direction instantly, without waiting for a band's next set or a DJ handover. Every booking includes a consultation to plan your music, from must-play tracks to anything you'd rather avoid.

Questions answered

How much does it cost to hire a sax player?

Packages start from £1,195 for a 2-hour live sax and DJ party set. Evening Plus is from £1,895 and the All-Day Wedding is from £2,995. Your final quote is confirmed once Paul has checked your date and location.

Do you play over a DJ set or backing tracks?

Both. Paul is also the DJ, so for the party he plays live sax over his own DJ set and the music never stops. For drinks receptions and quieter moments he plays over backing tracks.

Do you sing as well as play the sax?

Yes. Paul sings live as part of the act, and many clients mention the mix of sax, vocals and DJ in their reviews.

Do you bring your own sound system and lighting?

Yes. Every package includes a full professional sound system and lighting rig, so there is nothing extra for you or your venue to source.

Where do you travel to?

Paul is based in Nottingham and is regularly booked across the East Midlands. He also plays events right across the UK and destination weddings in Europe, including Ibiza and Mallorca.
